My name is Katie Lundy and I am one of the second grade teachers at Liberty (along with Mrs. Tunzi who teaches the 2/3 combination class). I have been teaching at Liberty School for 24 years. I began my teaching career at Liberty in a second grade classroom, then moved to a second/third combination, then to the third grade, and finally to the second grade classroom where I am today.
I grew up in Santa Rosa and attended elementary, jr. high, and high school there. Growing up I was an active member in both 4-H and FFA, and played a variety of sports throughout my life. After high school I attended SRJC and Chico State University where I earned a BA in Liberal Studies. I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at Chico State, as well as a Social Studies (K-8) and Agriculture (K-12) Credential.
My husband and I have two very active boys at home. They keep us very busy and never seem to run out of energy. The oldest is in ninth grade and the youngest is in seventh grade.
During my time off from school, I keep busy working for both the Petaluma and Sonoma County Fairs, volunteering at various events in Sonoma County, and teaching language arts for Liberty's Summer School. When I do finally have a break in my schedule my family and I enjoy going out to dinner one night a week, going for walks/runs, gardening, visiting interesting places, cooking, camping (when we can fit it in), having family movie and game nights, and spending time together. This year we have 19 students in our classroom and our aides will be Mrs. Mary, Mrs. Martin, and Mrs. Thomas. We are all very excited to start this year and look forward to getting to know the kids better and watching them grow.
