Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computer program that allows students to take quizzes on books that they read. Quizzes range from 5-20 questions, depending upon the length and difficulty of the book. After the students take a quiz, they are shown how well they scored, and if appropriate, the questions that they missed with the correct answers. Students earn points based upon the length and reading level of the book and upon how well they scored on the quiz. Students may take the quizzes on computers in their classroom, in Daycare, or in the Library. Currently students in Grades 2-6 are using Accelerated Reader. Thanks to the Liberty School Board, there are almost 150,000 quizzes available for the students to take. The link to the list of available quizzes is below so students may check if books they have at home or from other libraries have a quiz.
